Hermosa Beach staple Mickey's Deli opens second location in Redondo Beach
"We always wanted to open a second location and I think for me it's about carrying on the legacy that my grandfather and my dad have built, and many other of our families members have built over the last 70 years. We wanted to take this brand that people know and love and bring it to another community."
"The senior Mance opened Mickey's at the age of 22 when Italian food was starting to gain popularity in the United States after World War II. The spot sports a surfboard-shaped sign out front and neon signs on two windows that read 'Mickey's' on one side and 'Sandwiches, Catering, Pasta' on the other."
"The second 1,100-square foot location, which is located next to a gas station at the corner of Inglewood Avenue and Artesia Boulevard, will have a lot of the same feel as the original Mickey's, including a replica of its now famous mural."
Mickey's Deli, founded in 1953 by Michael Angelo Mance in Hermosa Beach, has opened a second location in North Redondo Beach after serving the community for over 70 years. The new 1,100-square-foot location at 2716 Artesia Boulevard aims to bring the beloved brand to a wider audience while preserving its old-school charm. Run by Mickey Mance (the founder's grandson), his father Paul, and business partner Justin Essman, the expansion honors the family legacy built over decades. The new location will replicate key features of the original, including its famous mural depicting Mickey Mance with Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando. Mickey's maintains its traditional counter-service format and small market offerings of marinara sauce, pasta, and other Italian products.
