Gas prices in Florida have seen a notable decline, particularly in South Florida, where averages have dropped nearly 7 cents in a week and are under $3 per gallon. Despite a year-over-year decrease of approximately 66 cents, experts caution that this downward trend might be reversing due to rising oil prices after recent U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil. North Florida continues to offer the lowest gas prices, while areas like Naples and Palm Beach are among the most expensive in the state. Overall, the average price across Florida is $2.99, reflecting a broader trend of decreasing prices nationally.
"Every little bit adds up for drivers navigating the road and their budgets," said Mark Jenkins, AAA spokesman. "Unfortunately, the downward trend may not continue much longer. Oil prices moved higher last week after the U.S. imposed sanctions on Iranian oil."
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that the national average gas price is experiencing fluctuations, and local conditions like sanctions can heavily affect pricing patterns in different regions.
