The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for South Florida, warning of damaging winds, large hail, and potential tornadoes. Thunderstorms are expected until 10 p.m. Monday with ongoing heavy rainfall extending into Tuesday. The rainy season is anticipated to start soon, with patterns aligning for more frequent rain, beneficial but welcomed amid ongoing extreme drought conditions affecting the region. The drought poses severe ecological risks and impacts water resources in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Monday will be the second day in a row of intense downpours, and Tuesday could see much of the same, with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
We're starting to see more of these rain chances this weekend and into early next week. We are starting to see that transition.
