Trial set for Alexander brothers' Miami Beach rape cases. But getting them here may be tough
Briefly

A Miami judge scheduled a preliminary trial date for Oren and Alon Alexander, along with Ohad Fisherman, facing sex crime charges from 2016. While the date is set for May 12, the twins are currently incarcerated in Brooklyn facing federal sex trafficking charges, complicating their transfer to Miami. Judge Lody Jean emphasized that the state cannot secure their custody, leaving the trial uncertain. Assistant state attorney Natalie Snyder indicated they may proceed against Fisherman, who has bonded out and is under monitoring. The case has drawn significant media attention after a police raid on the Alexander brothers' homes.
"The state doesn't have the jurisdiction to bring them down," Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Lody Jean said during a Thursday hearing in which she also ruled on some motions related to the cases.
"I'm going to try," said Natalie Snyder, the Miami-Dade assistant state attorney tasked with prosecuting the celebrity brothers and their friend.
If the state's petition to gain custody of the twins fails, Judge Jean said she was prepared to go forward with the prosecution of Ohad Fisherman, 39.
Fisherman came to the public's attention on Dec. 11, the same day federal agents and Miami Beach police raided the Alexander brothers' Miami Beach homes.
