Manhattan D.A. Indicts Suspects in Kips Bay Killing
"Santiago Ajsac Sirin was a hardworking delivery man in Manhattan before these defendants cut his life short by brutally attacking him. The July 13, 2025 assault unfolded just before 5:45 p.m. outside a Target on Second Avenue in Kips Bay, when multiple men allegedly attacked Sirin and rifled through his backpack."
"He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, underwent emergency brain surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma. He died months later, and the medical examiner attributed his death to blunt-force trauma to the back of the head. Prosecutors say the assault was initially investigated as a robbery attempt."
"Two men identified by prosecutors as Lavel Boddie and Frtizgens Delia have been arrested and are in custody while two others remain at large. Both men are currently being held at Rikers."
Santiago Ajsac Sirin, a delivery worker supporting a family in Guatemala, was brutally attacked on July 13, 2025, outside a Target on Second Avenue in Kips Bay, Manhattan. Multiple assailants attacked him and searched his backpack in what prosecutors initially investigated as a robbery. Sirin suffered blunt-force trauma to the back of his head, underwent emergency brain surgery, and was placed in a medically induced coma. He died months later from his injuries. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office unsealed an indictment on March 6, 2026, charging multiple defendants. Two suspects, Lavel Boddie and Frtizgens Delia, have been arrested and are held at Rikers Island, while two others remain at large. A GoFundMe for Sirin's widow in Guatemala has raised $600 toward a $6,000 goal for funeral expenses.
