Duncan Robinson has opted out of his $19.9 million contract, becoming an unrestricted free agent, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Robinson's decision came ahead of a deadline, given that only $9.9 million of his contract was guaranteed until late June. With a reputation as one of the Miami Heat's best shooters, his exit may allow the team to gain approximately $40 million in cap space. However, returning to the Heat could complicate their salary cap situation going forward, especially after the team re-signed Davion Mitchell to a two-year deal.
Robinson, 31, could still return to the Heat, but that would further erode cap space heading into the 2026 offseason.
Robinson is widely regarded as one of the best shooters in Heat history, but has dealt with back injuries at the tail-end of two consecutive seasons.
