"Betts, 46, whose current age is the number he wore on his jersey in his playing days, was New York Giants running backs coach last season. After an NFL playing career that spanned from 2002 through 2010, he actually coached high school football in South Florida for several years. He was head coach at Pine Crest in Fort Lauderdale in 2019 and 2020 after serving as offensive coordinator the previous three seasons."
"As a player, Betts rushed for 3,326 yards and had another 1,646 yards receiving, mostly with the Washington Redskins and finishing with the New Orleans Saints in 2010. He had a prolific 2006 season in Washington in which he ran for 1,154 yards and had 445 receiving. Betts being brought onto Hafley's staff effectively ends Eric Studesville's run as Dolphins running backs coach since 2017, crossing over the tenures of three different head coaches in Miami: Adam Gase, Brian Flores and Mike McDaniel."
"Yenser has been an assistant offensive line coach for several seasons between the Houston Texans the last two seasons and San Francisco 49ers before that, with a stint in the college ranks as Kentucky offensive line coach in between. He'll now get a chance to lead the position group at the pro level."
Jeff Hafley’s Miami Dolphins added Ladell Betts as running backs coach and Zach Yenser as offensive line coach. Betts, 46, was the New York Giants running backs coach last season after a playing career from 2002–2010 and several years coaching high school football in South Florida, followed by Iowa from 2021–2024. Betts rushed for 3,326 yards and had 1,646 receiving yards, including a 2006 season with 1,154 rushing and 445 receiving. Betts’ hiring ends Eric Studesville’s run as Dolphins running backs coach since 2017. Yenser spent recent seasons with the Texans and 49ers and coached at Kentucky; he will lead the pro offensive line group. Bobby Slowik will lead the offense with Tyke Tolbert as wide receivers coach.
