Milpitas middle school hosts workshop for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
"September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and Thomas Russell Middle School is hosting an event Sept. 25 to help families in the Milpitas Unified School District start conversations about recognizing the warning signs for suicide and connecting people to resources and services. Last year the middle school hosted Ending the Silence for Families, a presentation for parents by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) that includes warning signs, facts and statistics, how to talk with children and how to work with school staff."
"Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE), a Sunnyvale-based clean electricity provider, is issuing at total of $33 million to its customers through a one-time automatic bill credit. Residential customers in Milpitas and other South Bay cities will receive a credit of approximately $50-nearly 24% of the average total monthly energy bill. Nonresidential customers will also receive a credit, which will be determined by the customers' historic energy use. Credits will be automatically applied to upcoming PG&E bills for electricity used in August."
Thomas Russell Middle School will host an expanded Ending the Silence workshop on Sept. 25 to help families in the Milpitas Unified School District recognize suicide warning signs, connect people to resources and learn how to work with school staff. The presentation originates from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and covers warning signs, facts, statistics, and guidance for talking with children. RSVP is available online. Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) will issue a total of $33 million in one-time automatic bill credits, giving residential customers about $50 and nonresidential customers credits based on historic energy use.
