Katherine Hartley Short, the oldest daughter of actor Martin Short, died by suicide on February 23 at age 42. She was a licensed clinical social worker and therapist in Los Angeles who worked to help others facing similar mental health challenges. Despite her own serious struggles that led to multiple treatment center visits, she remained dedicated to helping others and served on the board of Karma Rescue, an animal-rescue nonprofit. Friends remembered her as a loving, giving person who brought joy to those around her. The Short family, including her adoptive parents Martin Short and Nancy Dolman (who died in 2010), confirmed her death and requested privacy during this time.
