Exclusive: Tay Lautner Is Making Mental Health Awareness Sexy
"When I first launched the nonprofit, before I had the podcast, she was like, 'You make mental health sexy. You make it appealing,'"
"I was like, 'Oh, I kind of like that.' I want to save people's lives and make it sexy while doing it."
"There is such beauty in community," Lautner says. "I'm super excited to finally do an event where people can talk to each other and hear in person from people they may look up to. I've been so giddy. I've been very stressed, obviously, but it's the best type of stress."
Tay Lautner experienced mental health challenges while working as a nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic. She founded the Lemons Foundation nonprofit in 2022 and launched a namesake blog. In 2023 she launched The Squeeze podcast with her husband, actor Taylor Lautner, featuring candid conversations with reality stars, athletes, and relatives of high-profile cases. She is hosting a first-ever mental health summit on Sept. 20 at Malibu's Calamigos Ranch, co-hosted by her husband, with panels featuring Anna Cathcart, Joey Graziadei, and Allison Kuch. The summit emphasizes community, practical steps toward care, and making mental health awareness appealing.
