"I saw you running down the street full speed. You weren't wearing active wear, so I knew something was amiss (plus you were sprinting like your life depended on it). I was surprised when you suddenly stopped in front of a downtown apartment building and started frantically typing in the keypad. Maybe you were rushing to help a friend who's about to commit suicide I thought, or perhaps OD-ing."
"Nope! Just then another dude ran past me, cleary wanting to straight up murder you. You unlocked, slid inside, and shut the door, I swear to God, one millisecond before he arrived and tried to rip it open. "F*c* you fa**ot!!" he yelled, and unsuccessfully tried to break the glass with his skateboard. Then he gave up and quickly left. I don't know what that was about, but I find myself feeling glad that you got away."
A person ran full speed down a downtown street, not wearing active wear and sprinting as if their life depended on it. They stopped at an apartment building and frantically typed on the keypad, then unlocked and slid inside. Another man chased them, yelling homophobic slurs and attempting to rip the door open and break the glass with a skateboard. The chased person managed to shut the door one millisecond before the attacker reached it. The attacker abandoned the attempt and left quickly. The observer felt surprised, uncertain about the reasons, and glad that the chased person escaped unharmed.
