Amy S. Paller will step down as chair of the Department of Dermatology after more than two decades while remaining on the Feinberg faculty and continuing clinical practice at Lurie Children's Hospital. She will continue to direct the Skin Biology and Diseases Resource-Based Center and will remain chair until a national search for a successor is completed to ensure a seamless transition. The department expanded to more than 25 full-time clinical faculty, over a dozen primary research scientists, and a network of clinicians across Northwestern Medicine and Lurie Children's. NIH dermatology funding rose from 21st to 10th, residency and training programs ascended to top-tier status, and Dr. Paller authored over 600 peer-reviewed publications.
