Leona Cusack, 33, of Ballycasey near Shannon, died at University Hospital Limerick on February 18, 2024. She suffered a miscarriage the day before her death. Her family fear that her death could have been prevented if sepsis medication had been administered more quickly. She was transferred by ambulance from University Maternity Hospital Limerick to University Hospital Limerick because she was at risk of a heart attack. The family say they are haunted by the possibility that delays in sepsis treatment contributed to her death.
