""This expansion significantly strengthens our ability to deliver robotic surgery across a wider range of complex procedures""
""trailblazing approach""
""This investment will allow more patients""
The Royal Stoke University Hospital will expand into the UK's largest robotic surgery centre after a £12m Denise Coates Foundation donation, raising total foundation funding to £29m since 2014. The expansion will extend access to advanced robotic procedures across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, benefiting more than 1,000 patients per year and supporting complex operations including emergency and heart surgery. The hospital will introduce tactile-feedback technology enabling surgeons to feel tissue resistance in real time, improving control, reducing unnecessary force and supporting safer, more precise surgery. Existing robotic services increased surgical productivity by 20% and reduced average patient stay by two days per case.
