Eric Dane, known for roles in Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, died at age 53 from respiratory failure with ALS as the underlying cause. He announced his ALS diagnosis in April 2025. ALS is a progressive degenerative disease affecting nerve cells and causing muscle paralysis, with no cure available. Treatment focuses on slowing progression through medication and physical therapy, with most patients surviving three to five years post-diagnosis. During his illness, Dane became an advocate for ALS awareness and research. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Gayheart and two children. A memoir is scheduled for publication in late 2026.
