Claymont, Del. boy Dawson Johnson plays baseball despite having Malan Syndrome, a rare condition that impairs movement. The condition causes developmental delays and makes simple tasks difficult, yet Dawson continues to participate actively in the sport and demonstrates perseverance at the plate. His continual involvement in baseball inspires peers and members of the local community. He maintains an outgoing personality and enjoys talking to people he meets. His parents hope he will continue to build relationships and connections as he grows, leveraging his sociability and determination to overcome everyday challenges.
