"We know that when patients have to make an extra trip to the pharmacy after seeing their doctor, many prescriptions never get filled,"
"By bringing the pharmacy directly to the point of care, we're removing a critical barrier and helping patients start their treatment when it matters most - right away."
"just as they would at a traditional pharmacy counter,"
Amazon is adding vending machines stocked with prescription drugs to One Medical clinics, allowing patients to pick up medications immediately after appointments. Common prescriptions including antibiotics, inhalers, and blood pressure medications will be available for kiosk collection. Kiosks will launch at One Medical offices across Los Angeles starting in December, with plans to expand to other locations. Inventory will vary based on the prescribing patterns of each office location. Controlled substances and medications requiring refrigeration will not be dispensed from the kiosks. Prescriptions sent to Amazon Pharmacy are verified by company pharmacists, and patients can check out via a QR code in the Amazon app to collect medications quickly. Kiosk users will also have access to phone and video consultations with the pharmacy team to resolve medication questions.
