The Atlantic announces the hiring of four journalists to strengthen its newsroom. Sophia Nguyen and Kevin Sieff join as staff writers, both from The Washington Post. Nguyen covered books and features, while Sieff brings 15 years of international reporting experience from locations including Kabul, Nairobi, Mexico City, and Barcelona. Theo Balcomb and Jonathan L. Fischer arrive as senior editors. Balcomb, returning to The Atlantic, is an audio journalism veteran from NPR and co-creator of The Daily at The New York Times, with experience editing award-winning investigative series. Fischer, also from The Washington Post, will oversee culture coverage including the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institution, and Trump administration cultural initiatives.
