New York Times Sets MAGA Influencer Straight After He Claimed They Offered $25K for an Interview
"The @nytimes offered to pay me $25,000 for an interview. They actually wanted to play secretly wire tapped footage from my house in the interview to build their story. To get licensing rights. I told them to get FUCKED. They are the enemy."
"We are in the final stages of preparing a comprehensive feature story examining the recent allegations that have garnered significant attention across social media and news outlets—specifically, the reported dissolution of your marriage to Kezia Schaffer, the claims of an extramarital relationship with a colleague at RiftTV, and the broader implications for figures who position themselves as advocates for traditional values."
MAGA influencer Elijah Schaffer, host of Slightly Offensive and founder of RiftTV, posted on X claiming The New York Times offered him $25,000 for an interview regarding his divorce and separation from his wife. Schaffer alleged that a reporter named Elena Vargas contacted him with text messages proposing the interview and mentioning they possessed secretly wiretapped footage from his house to use in their story. Schaffer rejected the offer, posting screenshots of the alleged messages and criticizing The Times. The original February post about his divorce garnered 3 million views before deletion and became the basis for Schaffer's current dispute with the publication.
