Disney's $60 billion investment into a 'recession proof' venture
"Disney is all about immersing people in that very Disney environment,"
"And cruise is just another extension of that because you're on the ship and it is all Disney all the time, and then you can go to their island and it is all Disney all the time."
"They can really promote that immersion and controlled experience and people love it,"
The Disney Destiny debuted this week on a preview sailing ahead of its Nov. 20 maiden voyage. The 4,000-passenger ship will offer four- and five-night Caribbean cruises and introduces a single cohesive "Heroes and Villains" theme across venues. Themed spaces include De Vil's Piano Lounge and the Sanctum Bar with theatrical effects such as a levitating cloak and a disappearing Cruella effect. Entertainment offerings include Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King dinner theater with human performers and a stage production of Hercules featuring large-scale puppetry. The ship is positioned as a major immersive evolution amid a $60 billion entertainment investment.
