Google Search Ranking Volatility Heated
"We are still seeing daily Google updates, probably smaller core updates that Google doesn't want to comment on. As a reminder, the February 2026 Google Discover Core Update started on February 5, 2026, and was completed on February 27, 2026. Previously, we had it heated into March but before that we thought we had some cooling the last week of February."
"Worst ever beginning of a week. There was another big update this weekend - lost about 60% of traffic. Yes, something happened yesterday, or rather on Saturday: Discover suddenly reappeared, our ranking rose sharply according to Sistrix, and we suddenly outstripped the big news sites in our field."
Google Search rankings remain highly volatile with continuous daily updates occurring throughout January and February 2026. The February 2026 Discover Core Update ran from February 5-27, 2026, with notable volatility spikes during mid-February and late February. Prior to this, the December 2025 core update ran from December 11-29, 2025, featuring two significant spikes on December 13th and 20th. Multiple ranking tracking tools including Advanced Web Rankings, Accuranker, SimilarWeb, Data For SEO, and others show ongoing fluctuations. Webmaster reports indicate mixed impacts, with some sites experiencing severe traffic losses exceeding 60-80%, while others report traffic gains and improved rankings, particularly in Google Discover.
