Manchester United are close to appointing Carrick as interim manager until the end of the season following Ruben Amorim's sacking. The club hopes to announce the appointment within 48 hours and expects Carrick to take training at Carrington on Wednesday. Darren Fletcher oversaw the last two matches. Rooney proposed involving former players such as Roy Keane, Darren Fletcher or John O'Shea to restore the club's identity and family feel.
