Manchester United confidence grows over dream signing as transfer funds confirmed
"Manchester United chiefs have told Michael Carrick that he has money to spend in January, as the interim head coach looks to bolster his squad. Carrick is said to be keen to add midfield reinforcements to his squad, and reports suggest Ruben Neves has been offered to the club. The former Wolves man has been heavily linked with a move back to Europe after spending the last two-and-a-half seasons at Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal."
"The Guardian report that he is available for 20million. But Neves is not among United's key targets. Brighton star Carlos Baleba continues to be top of their midfield wish list. United tried and failed with an approach to the Seagulls last summer, who were said to have quoted around 115m to sell their midfielder. That situation appears to be changing, though. The Sun report that United are increasingly confident of securing a summer deal for Baleba."
"Nottingham Forest's Elliott Anderson and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton are also hugely admired at Old Trafford, and across the Premier League. The summer will also bring the need for a new centre-back, with Harry Maguire expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June. The Daily Mail report that Anderson's team-mate at Forest, Murillo, is in United's sights."
Manchester United chiefs have told Michael Carrick he has money to spend in January to bolster the squad. Carrick wants midfield reinforcements and has been offered Ruben Neves, who is reportedly available for £20million after two-and-a-half seasons at Al-Hilal. Neves is not a primary target. Brighton's Carlos Baleba remains United's top midfield priority, with previous valuation around £115m but expectations that Brighton's demands will ease by summer. Nottingham Forest's Elliott Anderson and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton are also targets. A centre-back will be needed with Harry Maguire set to leave on a free in June, and Forest's Murillo is under consideration.
