Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim responds to Cristiano Ronaldo: 'We made a lot of mistakes in the past'
"I'm sad because of the club that's one of the most important clubs in the world, and a club that I still have in my heart because of the obvious reasons. The best features, fun and footballing quizzes, straight to your inbox every week."
"You have to follow with the intelligent people, smart people, to create a base for the future as Manchester United [did] so many years ago: Nicky Butt, Gary, Roy Keane, Beckham, they became big players, but they had youth. So Manchester United right now, they don't have a structure. I hope that changes in the future, present/future, because the potential of the club, it's amazing. It's one of the most important clubs of the century."
Ruben Amorim responded to Cristiano Ronaldo's criticism of Manchester United's current state. Manchester United have struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson's 2013 departure and suffered a particularly poor recent season, finishing 15th and losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final, which cost a Champions League place. The team has shown signs of improvement with ten points from four league games to climb to eighth. Ronaldo, who had two spells at United and an unhappy 2021–22 return, expressed sadness, called for intelligent leadership and a youth structure, and urged change to realise the club's potential.
