Lammens celebrates World Book Day
"It's a fantastic initiative from the Foundation around reading and writing. I still read a lot today and it helps me in football as well. One of the great honours we have of playing for Manchester United is the amount of support we get from our fans and especially kids of this age. I know how important it is for them to see guys like us give an example to them and to support them."
"I was so happy and I've never seen a football player in person before, I couldn't believe it! Senne was very kind to us and answered our questions really nicely. He also gave us some tips and I think I've learned a lot from him."
Senne Lammens joined Manchester United Foundation's World Book Day celebrations at Partington Central Academy, one of 30 partner primary schools. He participated in The Great Big World Book Day 2026 Footy and Booky Quiz, a live event reaching over half-a-million children nationwide. Lammens distributed books from the National Literacy Trust and shared how reading has benefited his football career. He emphasized the importance of professional athletes setting positive examples for young fans. The event included interactive activities such as boccia, curling, and handball. Pupils had opportunities to ask questions about reading and football, with attendees like Izzy expressing enthusiasm about meeting the goalkeeper and receiving his advice.
