Just In: Man United fall behind Premier League rivals in pursuit of attacking player
"Manchester United's forward planning this summer has been under intense scrutiny. After investing heavily in attacking talent, the club seem to be missing an opportunity, letting potential recruits slip through their fingers. Chief among these is Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, a player many believe could deliver the goals United so sorely need. While United are interested in bringing Vlahovic to Old Trafford next year, when his contract runs down and he becomes a free agent,"
"Since joining from Fiorentina in January 2022, he has scored 62 goals in 150 appearances. He has had spells on the fringes but has also shown that when match fitness and form come together, he has the capability to perform. Part of the reason progress has been slow is mounting competition. Clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle United are reportedly keeping tabs on Vlahovic, and could be poised to make offers when the time is right."
Manchester United view Dusan Vlahovic as a potential free-agent target when his Juventus contract expires next year but have made no meaningful progress toward a deal. Vlahovic has scored 62 goals in 150 Juventus appearances since January 2022 and has shown clear goal-scoring ability when fit, although his spell in Turin has been mixed. Interest from clubs such as Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle increases competition for his signature. United signed Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo this summer and also have Joshua Zirkzee available. Signing Vlahovic could limit Sesko's playing time, and midfield reinforcements are seen as a greater need.
