"Appropriate treatment plans would, on the balance of probabilities, have resulted in the claimant avoiding the pain and discomfort set out below and would have resulted in him being able to play professional football at elite level without restriction or impediment. "It is the claimant's case that the defendant [United] negligently failed to properly investigate the claimant's pars fractures, failed to rest the claimant and failed to refer him to a specialist sports spinal surgeon. "As a result, the claimant's symptoms significantly progre"
Axel Tuanzebe made his Manchester United debut in January 2017 at 19 in a 4-0 FA Cup win over Wigan but made only 37 appearances for the club before leaving permanently in 2023. He joined Ipswich, helped secure promotion to the Premier League, and now plays for newly promoted Burnley. Tuanzebe, now 27, has lodged a High Court claim alleging improper treatment for stress fractures of the spine, including failures to investigate, rest, and refer to a specialist spinal surgeon. He seeks damages in excess of £1,000,000 and says treatment harmed his career and earnings despite continuing at elite level.
