Antony: I turned down Bayern, wanted Betis return

Antony rejected a late approach from Bayern Munich to honour his commitment to Real Betis and completed a permanent transfer to Betis until June 2030. Betis agreed to pay a fixed €22m plus up to €3m in bonuses, with Manchester United entitled to 50% of any future sale. Bayern reportedly offered significantly higher wages, possibly around €7m, but Antony prioritized respect and happiness at Betis. Antony scored nine goals in 26 games during a loan spell, helped Betis reach the UEFA Conference League final, regained a Brazil call-up, and returned to United before being placed on the transfer list.
But when I spoke to Bayern, I told them that the deal with Betis was 95% complete, and that I would honour my word. I would do so out of respect and love and because I know that I am very happy here. I don't know if they were offering me €7 million ($8.15m) [in wages]. With all respect I have for Bayern, which is a world-class club, I am at ease with the decision I've taken. I don't know what will happen in the future but I feel very calm about the decision I've taken.
