Antony completed a permanent transfer to Real Betis after a successful loan spell, ending a difficult three-year period at Manchester United. He made 96 appearances and scored 12 goals for United after joining from Ajax for £80m. He was isolated at United and trained with outcasts before securing the move back to Seville on deadline day. Antony became emotional at his Betis presentation, saying only his family knew how hard it had been and that he waited with faith for the chance to return. He praised Betis supporters, pledged to run for the Béticos, and said affection mattered more than money.
"Only my family know how difficult it was to be there," he said, regularly wiping away tears. "Training separately... but I knew that this incredible moment was going to come. Of course I was afraid that this would not happen, but I waited because I had a lot of faith."
