Amorim: Sesko has 'struggled' since Man Utd move
""Of course, nobody likes to hear, but he struggled a little bit and that is a fact. So let's embrace that. It's not personal, it's not nothing. That is what I try to explain to the players. That is not personal. It's an opinion that is going to change in three weeks. Everything that is true today, in three weeks, could be a lie. So of course, it's hard to hear. We are going to help him and we are going to protect Ben because he works really hard and we want to succeed. So he's going to succeed.""
"Neville said he "wants to see more" from the Slovenian, who he also described as "awkward.""
Ruben Amorim accepted that Benjamin Sesko has struggled since his summer move to Manchester United, producing two goals in 11 games. Sesko managed just 21 touches in 90 minutes during the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. Gary Neville criticised the striker, saying he "wants to see more" and describing him as "awkward." Amorim framed the difficulty as factual but not personal, warned that opinions can rapidly change, and promised to help and protect Sesko. Sesko scored 39 goals in 87 games for RB Leipzig and attracted Premier League interest before his £73.7m transfer.
