Jade Rose, a 22-year-old defender from Canada, has officially signed a four-year contract with Manchester City, marking the club's first summer transfer. Rose has made 28 appearances for her national team since her senior debut in 2021. She expressed her enthusiasm about joining City and her desire to compete for top honors, including the Champions League. Having also prioritized education, Rose selected Harvard University for its academic reputation. City’s women's football director highlighted her potential and the experience she brings to the team as they aim to improve from last season's fourth place in the Women's Super League.
"I'm just super excited to get started. I'm ready to win the Champions Leagues, to win every trophy that's out there," Rose said.
"I chose Harvard because education has always been a massive part of my life, my journey. I think having something to fall back on as a women's footballer is important and because it's something I value."
"The WSL is an incredibly competitive league, which I'm extremely excited for. Some of the top footballers in the world play here and I'm excited to not only play here but also train with and compete against them," Rose added.
"Jade is a talented young player we've been monitoring for a while now and we're delighted to bring her in... she will certainly have the opportunity to showcase her skills here at City."
