Manchester City have agreed personal terms with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma ahead of club-to-club talks with Paris Saint-Germain. City’s current No1 James Trafford made a costly error in a 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham when a pass inside his own box allowed Joao Palhinha to score. There is no guaranteed regular starting place for Trafford this season. Donnarumma’s arrival in Manchester is contingent on Ederson’s future, with the Brazilian linked with a move to Galatasaray. Ederson has lost his starting spot to Trafford. Paris Saint-Germain are willing to allow Donnarumma to leave for a fee below £43.3m. Donnarumma has been frozen out at PSG since the club signed Lucas Chevalier.
Trafford made a good first game,
I decide [for him] to make another [and] continue. When I take decisions, normally in the first part of the season, not just for the keeper as the keeper is a special position, of course, to have more consistency in the goal, but for all the players - when you play one or two games, and everybody thinks, OK, this is the start line-up, these are the players that are going to play.
I learned for many years that with this amount of games, everybody will play.
