Gundogan: Guardiola gave me 'everything' in football
"It was amazing. I would say it's more than just a manager/player relationship. It's more than that."
"He gave me everything that I wanted in football, I've learned so much. He had such a big impact also on my career and I think without him that what I've achieved, what we have achieved, would have not been possible."
"I think every single player that played under him, especially in the era of Manchester City, will probably say the same -- that we are all very grateful, and we feel privileged that we had the opportunity to work with the best."
Ilkay Gündogan expressed deep gratitude to Pep Guardiola, saying Guardiola gave him everything he wanted in football and had a major impact on his career. Gündogan spent eight seasons at Manchester City across two spells, scoring 65 goals in 358 appearances and winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups and four League Cups. He was Guardiola's first City signing in 2016 and captained the team to the 2023 treble. Gündogan spent a year at Barcelona before returning to City, then moved to Galatasaray on a free transfer, attracted by his Turkish heritage and the chance to finish his career there.
