Guardiola says he takes 'full responsibility' after much-changed Man City fall to Leverkusen in Champions League
"I take full responsibility, I still think they are exceptional players but we missed something that we needed in the high level. Now we have to fight for the next games. They [Leverkusen] were good, and did also very good things. We had chances, we had more than them, but half-chances, always with blocks or slips, always something there. We didn't have the belief that it's the moment to attack, the moment to defend. Sometimes it happens."
"I understand your question. I have to accept it. If we win, it wouldn't be a problem. I accept it maybe be a lot, but we are playing every two or three days. But seeing the result, maybe it's too much."
Manchester City suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Bayer Leverkusen as Alejandro Grimaldo and Patrick Schick scored. Leverkusen were effective on the counter and became the first German club to win at the Etihad in more than a decade. Pep Guardiola made wholesale changes after the Newcastle loss, with Nico González the only player retained, and brought on Erling Haaland from the bench in the second half. Guardiola accepted full responsibility and cited a lack of belief and decisive moments. City have lost consecutive matches across competitions and sit sixth in their Champions League group, returning to face Leeds United next.
