Atletico Madrid is reportedly making moves to sign Mateo Kovacic from Manchester City amid a potential squad overhaul at City this summer. The Croatian midfielder is attracting interest due to his skill set, and City is open to selling him for about €30 million. While Kovacic's contract extends until 2027, he expressed a preference to remain in a top European league. Fenerbahce is also in contention, but Kovacic is more keen on the opportunity to start at Atletico, where he could reunite with former teammate Julian Alvarez.
The Spanish giants are known to have begun making concrete moves with both the player and Man City about a potential transfer this summer.
City are certainly open to the idea of selling Kovacic as part of a squad revolution this summer.
The transfer fee for the Croatian would likely be in the region of 30m.
The 30-year-old will almost certainly welcome the chance to re-establish himself as a starter somewhere else, and Atleti is as good a place as any.
