Roberts said the outing will be Yamamoto's only spring start before he departs to represent Team Japan in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Yamamoto is slated to join Shohei Ohtani on Team Japan after pitching for the Dodgers. Samurai Japan opened training camp in Miyazaki on Feb. 14. Yamamoto has trained in Arizona since early February and progressed to facing batters. He was added to Japan's roster in late January and is one of eight major league players on the squad.
