Jayson Werth, a former major league outfielder, formed a horse racing syndicate named Icon Racing. The syndicate gathered 25 to 30 investors who each committed $100,000 to acquire young Thoroughbreds with Triple Crown aspirations. Icon currently covers additional costs such as training and veterinary bills for founding members. Werth purchased a Good Magic colt at Keeneland for $110,000 to place into Icon's fund. Other founding members include Ian Ritchie, Jeff Berry, and Shawn Kelley. Werth values the ownership experience for its ability to share wins and losses with family and friends.
