Sheldon Keefe on the look of the Leafs post-Mitch Marner: "They're able to spread it around, get greater depth, and change the identity of the group"

"The Carter homerun is the one that stands out. It was also my first year in Toronto when I started with the Marlies, when I was there for the bat-flip moment. There was a big gap between those two moments. My youngest is 13, so for him, I was about the same age when the Jays last won the World Series. It was a cool moment. I am sure there are countless stories like that with those connections. It's very cool."

Sheldon Keefe said watching the Blue Jays' game was great fun and that it brought him back to being a kid while watching with his children. He described Vladdy wearing Auston’s jersey as a great moment for the city, for Auston, for the Maple Leafs, and for hockey, and said the convergence of those elements was outstanding. Keefe identified the Carter home run and the bat-flip as standout Blue Jays memories and noted a personal connection through his youngest child’s age. He said traveling to Toronto felt more comfortable this season because many relationships are now established. He noted the Maple Leafs look different without Mitch Marner, who was a dynamic, multifaceted player.
