Schneider ribs Ohtani over Jays' failed '23 pursuit
"I hope he brought his hat, the Blue Jay hat that he took from us in our meeting. I hope he brought it back, finally,"
"And the jacket for Decoy,"
"It's like, give us our stuff back already."
"He's a great player," Schneider said. "But that aside, I think that we have a great team and just an unbelievable cast of characters and players. I think things worked out the way they're meant to work out."
Shohei Ohtani signed a $700 million, 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers after meeting with the Blue Jays on Dec. 4, 2023, in Dunedin, Florida, where he took a Blue Jays hat and a jacket for his dog. Ohtani will bat leadoff for the Dodgers in the World Series opener against Toronto at Rogers Centre. Ohtani produced historic numbers at the plate and contributed on the mound this season despite returning from elbow surgery, including a three-homer game while pitching six shutout innings in the NLCS. Toronto signed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a $500 million, 14-year deal and reached its first World Series since 1993.
