Rory McIlroy shocks golf world by not letting Jack Nicklaus know he's skipping Memorial
Briefly

Rory McIlroy recently stirred controversy by skipping the Memorial tournament without informing Jack Nicklaus, the tournament's founder. Nicklaus expressed surprise at McIlroy's absence, noting that it was the first time he had missed the event since 2017 and revealing he hadn't spoken to him since McIlroy's Masters victory. Many believe a simple courtesy call from McIlroy would have been appropriate. McIlroy will play the RBC Canadian Open next week, continuing his schedule, but his choice to bypass Memorial has raised eyebrows given his past relationship with Nicklaus.
Rory not calling Jack to tell him he's not playing Memorial is not it. 5 mins would've gone a long way.
I really don't know why Rory didn't talk to me. There's nothing I can answer. I know he has to make a schedule that works for him.
