Report: Eloy Jimenez and Rafael Lantigua sign minor-league deals with the Blue Jays
"Once considered an up-and-coming outfielder, Jiménez showed off power with the Chicago White Sox between 2019 and 2023, despite his high strikeout rate. After being traded to the Baltimore Orioles at the 2024 trade deadline, the now-29-year-old signed a minor-league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays in December 2024 until he was released on July 12, 2025. Jiménez then signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on September 1st"
"Lantigua has primarily spent his pro career in the Blue Jays system, signing with the club as an international free agent in 2016. Since then, the infielder played up until the Triple-A level and earned MiLB All-Star recognition in 2023. After electing free agency on November 4, 2024, the Philadelphia Phillies signed him to a minor-league contract a month later."
Eloy Jiménez and Rafael Lantigua signed minor-league contracts with the Toronto Blue Jays and received spring-training invitations. Jiménez, 29, displayed power with the Chicago White Sox from 2019–2023, was traded at the 2024 deadline, signed with the Rays, and joined the Blue Jays' Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on September 1. Including 2025 time with the Rays, he hit .247 with a .673 OPS, three home runs, 30 RBIs and one stolen base in 190 at-bats. Lantigua, 27, signed with Toronto as an international free agent in 2016, reached Triple-A, earned a 2023 MiLB All-Star nod, signed with the Phillies after 2024 free agency, and in 2025 slashed .230/.356/.330 with seven homers and 56 RBIs in 400 at-bats.
