The Padres reduced payroll significantly following the death of owner Peter Seidler. John Seidler has been named the team's control person and the Seidler family intends to explore a sale of the franchise. Ownership has been unsettled after a public quarrel and a lawsuit from Sheel Seidler alleging breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and sales of assets 'far' below market prices.
