"Of course, I'd enjoy playing alongside Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Sasaki,"
"but winning against a team like that and becoming a World Champion would be the most valuable thing in my life. If anything, I'd rather take them down."
Tatsuya Imai will be posted by the Saitama Seibu Lions with the MLB negotiation period running Nov. 19 through Jan. 2, 2026 at 2 p.m. PT. Imai is 27 and has six professional seasons, so he is not subject to international bonus pool restrictions. That exemption should broaden his market and draw interest from more teams. Imai posted a 10-5 record with a 1.92 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 163.2 innings this season, and his fastball can reach 99 mph. He expressed a desire to join a club that could challenge the Dodgers and said he does not want to sign with a team that already has a Japanese player on the roster.
