Since 2021 he has a 3.49 ERA, 22.2% strikeout rate, 6.7% walk rate and 55% ground-ball rate in 214 1/3 innings. He missed much of 2025 with a lat strain and struggled in 2024. Mayza primarily throws a 93–94 mph sinker and an 86–87 mph slider and shows strong reverse platoon splits. Philadelphia's bullpen includes lefties Jose Alvarado and Tanner Banks and several right-handed relievers.
