The recent approval of the House settlement is set to bring transformative changes to college sports, primarily through the establishment of the College Sports Commission (CSC). Bryan Seeley, a Major League Baseball executive, will be appointed as CEO, marking a significant shift in oversight. The CSC will take over enforcement responsibilities previously held by the NCAA, especially relating to NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) agreements. This move aims to provide clarity and regulations in a landscape that many describe as chaotic, fostering better revenue sharing and supporting student-athletes.
The CSC is described as an independent body responsible for implementing settlement terms governing revenue sharing, student-athlete Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals, and roster limits.
Sources told ESPN that Seeley is expected to make seven figures in the new role as the head of the College Sports Commission.
