MLB Announces Preliminary Dodgers Roster For 2026 Spring Breakout Game
"In total, 210 players who participated in the first two iterations of the Spring Breakout have gone on to play Major League Baseball, with three of the last four Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award winners (Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes, Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz and Braves catcher Drake Baldwin) all being Spring Breakout alums."
"The Spring Breakout games serve as a showcase of baseball's future stars, as each Major League club will field a team of top prospects playing another organization's top prospects in a nine-inning exhibition game."
"All games will be carried live by MLB Network, local RSNs, or streamed on MLB's Digital Properties. Eleven of the 16 games will be played as a standalone game at a Major League Spring Training venue, with the remaining five contests being played as a single-admission doubleheader with an MLB Spring Training game."
The Spring Breakout is an annual exhibition series featuring top prospects from each MLB organization competing against prospects from other teams. The 2024 event includes 16 nine-inning games broadcast on MLB Network, local sports networks, and streamed on MLB's digital platforms from March 19-22. Eleven games are standalone events at Spring Training venues, while five are part of doubleheaders with regular Spring Training games. Eight games air live on MLB Network with eight on tape delay. All games stream live and blackout-free on MLB's digital properties. Rosters begin with 40-player pools, reduced to 27-man rosters on March 16. The program has proven successful, with 210 previous participants reaching MLB, including three of the last four Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award winners.
