Mariners Notes: Garver, Arroyo, Miller
"super slow offseason. Never really got any good offers or formal offers,"
" Cal reached out and said, 'Maybe you should try calling the Mariners.' So we called Justin [Hollander, the Mariners' GM]. Within 24 hours, we were able to work something out."
Mitch Garver re-signed with the Seattle Mariners on a minor‑league contract after the club declined his $12MM mutual option and he accepted a $1MM buyout. Garver experienced a very slow free‑agent offseason without formal offers and credited teammate Cal Raleigh for initiating contact that led to a quick agreement with GM Justin Hollander. Seattle previously showed interest and already has Andrew Knizner on a one‑year, $1MM guaranteed deal; Garver’s return adds catching depth. The Mariners plan to continue using Raleigh as a DH/part‑time catcher, creating opportunities for a backup. Prospect Michael Arroyo will get looks at third base and left field after WBC duty.
