"I think that the most important undertaking and really the bedrock of our relationship with the sportsbooks is the ability to monitor betting activity,"
"The ability to discern inappropriate patterns is really, really important. We understood the prop bet issue from the very beginning. I'm glad we've done something about it. But the rest of the program, right now, I think we're generally prepared to move forward under the rules that we have now."
"respond fully and cooperatively and on time"
"a really, really significant change that should reduce the incentive for anyone to be involved in an inapp"
Major League Baseball does not anticipate imposing further prop-bet restrictions after U.S. sportsbooks set a nationwide $200 cap on individual-pitch wagers and banned those bets from parlays. Commissioner Rob Manfred emphasized the league’s ability to monitor betting activity and discern inappropriate patterns as the bedrock of relationships with sportsbooks, and said the league is generally prepared to proceed under current rules. The changes followed charges against Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz alleging a scheme to fix individual pitches. The Senate Commerce Committee requested answers, and the league pledged to respond fully and cooperatively.
