How much of a Spring Training game do you watch?
"Today marks the start of Grapefruit and Cactus League action. There are a few games against unaffiliated teams, too. But the full slate really begins tomorrow. Me, I'll watch pretty much any MLB baseball. Though the pitch clock made it somewhat harder in some ways, I'm still aiming to watch about three games a day this upcoming season. Spring Training games, though... they're too unserious for me to pay real attention to."
"Not that I begrudge them this, as the point is really just for players to get up to speed - but it's just too divorced from what resembles competition to be interesting for me. So I'll usually turn it on, and lose interest when the re-insertions or full-scale substitutions start happening."
Today marks the start of Grapefruit and Cactus League action, with a few games against unaffiliated teams and the full slate beginning tomorrow. Almost any MLB baseball is watched, with an aim to view about three games daily despite the pitch clock making viewing somewhat harder. Spring Training games are considered too unserious to merit focused attention because their primary purpose is player preparation and they lack competitive resemblance. These games are typically turned on and then relegated to background viewing once frequent re-insertions and substitutions begin. Regular-season games with the pitch clock are treated as appointment viewing.
