"Honestly, who though Shane Bieber would do what he did against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night? The Toronto Blue Jays got the start they needed from their hired gun and picked up a necessary win in Game 3 of the ALCS. Bieber went six solid innings while striking out eight, and giving up just two earned runs on four hits. Thanks to that effort from Bieber, the Blue Jays now trail 2-1 in the best-of-seven series as they beat the Mariners 13-4."
"Biebers performance could be looked at as a minor miracle considering his previous outing was less than stellar. In his first start in a postseason game in a Blue Jay uniform, Bieber only lasted five outs in Game 3 of the ALDS at Yankee Stadium in a game that New York would go on to win 9-6. While Bieber was only tagged for the two earned runs, he wasn't locating the ball well and needed 54 pitches just to get those five outs."
Shane Bieber delivered six innings, eight strikeouts and two earned runs to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 13-4 Game 3 victory over the Seattle Mariners, cutting the ALCS deficit to 2-1. Bieber had struggled in his first postseason start for Toronto, lasting only five outs in Game 3 of the ALDS and needing 54 pitches for those outs. Bieber was coming off Tommy John surgery and had been rehabbing in Cleveland's minor league system at the end of July. The Guardians were behind in the standings, and Toronto acquired Bieber by trading prospect Khal Stephen, who started the season in Single-A and had pitched well enough to move up.
